Sealant Trials - LTP Mattstone

Application:

1st coat: Very thin, clear, petrol-like liquid, easily splashed. Rapidly absorbed

2nd coat: +1:22 hrs Slight foaming, but good coverage rate. Smell of floor polish

Comments:

Another LTP product that's barely detectable, but unlike the LTP Natural Finish this one can still be seen at the end of the trial, as long as you look carefully.

It's fair enough to say it's a matt finish. There's definitely no sheen or gloss, and the only real way to tell it's there is to spot the slight difference between the treated and untreated parts, most noticeably the line of difference towards the right-hand side.

Judging from the Spring 2016 stage photo, it would be hard to say the coating had managed to fend off the algae, but come September, at the end of the trial and after a summer in the sunshine, not a trace of algae to be seen. Strange!

But is a practically undetectable sealant what's required? Is that enough?

Very poor result. All four main stains still on show and the mosskiller has left its mark, too.

As with the LTP Natural Finish , the name doesn't suggest stain protection, and it certainly doesn't deliver, it's sad to report.

Unfortunately, there doesn't seem to be anything positive to say about this candidate.
